Qualitative Measures_Crossing Mimicry

The seeping of the urban fabric across the boundary is characterized by blotchy simplification of the city grid. The cartesian order is imposed on the undeveloped surface along the industrial string, yet the curvilinear pattern of the subtle waterways of the marsh reappears on the urban surface as neighborhood layouts seeking to revive that connection to nature through seemingly meandering paths. The relationship that is implied between layout form and use of land somewhat conflicts with the reasoning for extending the development boundary when that which is being mimicked in design will be shown appreciation through disturbance rather than enhancement.
